Quality Engineer


Job Description

Position Purpose:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring internal production and Supplier processes and products meet specifications and requirements. This position is also a key player in continuous improvement efforts and compliance to customer and regulatory standards.


Monitor daily production process, product specifications.
Record and report product verification/validation as required for new product and product revisions.
Follow up and respond to customer non-conformance, implement effective corrective actions.
Monitor incoming quality, vendors and material suppliers to insure final product quality.
Work with other departments in problem solving, lead problem solving/corrective actions as assigned.
Additional responsibilities:
Lead, assist or advise cross functional teams driving continuous improvement activities.
Monitor implementation and ongoing conformance to ISO and other regulatory requirements.
Is involved in the new product design and the project planning process.
Other duties as required by management.


Education and Experience:

Minimum of an AS degree in a technical discipline.   BS degree in Engineering desired, ASQ CQT or CQE preferred.
Minimum of 3 years quality experience in an industrial environment with experience in APQP, including FMEA and PPAP.
Ability to read Blue Prints and perform Quality Inspection with mechanical/functional gauging and leak test equipment required.
Demonstrated use and understanding of analytical problem solving tools (examples: cause and effect diagrams, brainstorming, process mapping, Design of Experiments, etc.) preferred.
Demonstrated use and understanding of statistical tools (Pareto, Histogram, Cause and Effect Diagram), Statistical Process Control and Process Capability preferred.
Knowledgeable of Six Sigma tools and / or other continuous improvement methodologies desired.
Knowledge of Welding techniques and standards such as ASME Section VIII, AWS D1.1, EN15614 and ISO9606 desired.
