Ariba IT is currently looking for a paid intern for the IT Support team. Individual must have outstanding communications skills (speaking, listening, written, etc.), superior customer support, learn quickly and be a team player. Intern candidate must be working toward an AS/BS degree in Computer Science or related field and be available to work 20 – 30 hours a week Monday -Friday. 



Duties and Responsibilities 


·         Field incoming help desk requests from internal customers via telephone, ticket system and e-mail in a courteous and timely manner.


·         Prioritize and schedule problem resolution. Escalate issues (when required) to the appropriately experienced technician.


·         Build rapport and elicit problem details from internal customers.  



Preferred Qualifications 



·         Basic understanding of Microsoft OS (XP, 2000)/OfficeXP/2003, installation and support.


·         Ability to provide telephone/on-site support to local and remote corporate users.


·         Ability to perform installations and configurations of PC hardware and software.


·         Assist internal customers with issues involving desktop hardware, operating system, application and networking issues.


·         Track and deploy IT asset inventory.


·         Assist in shipping of equipment (laptops, servers, etc…).  






Basic Minimum Qualifications 



·         Must be able to lift items > 50lbs.


·         Must be working toward an AS/BS degree in Computer Science or related field and be available to work 20 – 30 hours a week Monday -Friday

IT Technician

Job Description


The IT Technician is responsible for “level 1” hardware and software support of desktops and laptop computers for office and field personnel.  Other functions would include supporting printers, copiers, and mobile devices.  The IT Technician performs these support tasks over the phone, via email and in person.  The IT Technician documents, tracks and monitors the problems to ensure timely resolution.

Essential Duties


  • Perform company-wide customer support for all IT issues.
  • Performs a variety of IT tasks including general IT issues, computer support, printers, copiers, phones, laptops and PDA devices.
  • Software support on all company-wide products and applications plus any standard MS Office products.
  • Some after-hours and weekend work will be required.
  • Minimum travel may be required.

Requirements


  • Experience with Windows OS 2000/XP/Vista/7. MS Office, Outlook, IE and other TCP applications.
  • General understanding of networks, switches and hubs.
  • Install and support of computer programs, installation issues and removal process including disk formatting.
  • General Understanding of VPN, terminal services and remote connectivity.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and resolution skills including good judgment and decisions skills.
  • Experience with Help Desk ticketing procedures and software
  • Some experience with Active Directory for setting up user accounts.
  • Some experience with installing virus products and removing viruses.


Educational Requirements 

  • Associate degree or A+ certification and 1 year of experience with hands on support.  
  • Must speak English fluently and clearly

Lift at least 50 lbs to 4 feet and carry to another floor including stair climbs up or down.

The main purpose of the role is to carry out the day-to-day operation of the companys Electronic Switching, Gateway and Transaction Service ensuring the highest levels of service availability and integrity.You will be operating the Company's mainframe computer hardware, application software, system software and associated peripherals, ensuring all activities are performed in accordance with company agreed standards.

Role Overview:
Role Requirements:
To work within a secure Data Centre providing services to clients utilising a variety of technologies including MVS, Fujitsu, HP, Tandem and other environments.
SC security clearance will be obtained if not already cleared.

Working Pattern:
Full time / permanent / 12 hour shifts / 24x7x365

Key Responsibilities:
• Monitoring Tandem, Fujitsu, IBM Mainframe, UNIX, Wintel systems as per schedules and task lists
• Addressing job failures using recovery documentation and by invoking callout to both internal and client support teams in consultation with the Shift Leader
• Run client workloads to schedule, completing checklists to confirm progress
• Incident management of high priority calls
• Reacting to alerts raised by Unicenter
• Ensuring deadlines for SLAs are met
• Utilisation of the internal change and problem management systems
• Fully understand all Operational documentation
• Act as liaison point for all clients Out of Hours
• Complete and distribute status reports for workloads assigned
• Input and monitor client batch schedules including on-line processes and/or automation tools
• Under guidance Load or IPL on-line services as requested by schedules or support teams
• Take appropriate actions when error conditions, overruns, hardware failures or unforeseen events occur including calling out the appropriate support or maintenance staff
• Record all error conditions, overruns, unforeseen events and third party contacts in the appropriate Problem Management system
• Liaise with the relevant Data Centre Media teams regarding loading / unloading of media according to console prompts or scheduled requirements in a timely manner
• At the end of each shift, conduct a handover to the incoming shift. Ensure that the current status of the schedule and any ongoing problems are clearly understood
• Out of office hours, Service Desk calls from customers may be routed to the team. Ensure that these are handled professionally, both in the manner in which the call is answered and in the recording in the Problem Management System
• Suggest improvements to systems, procedures and processes: in the first instance this should be to the Shift Leader, it should then be followed up by means of Procedure amendment forms.

This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Telecommunications Engineering & Design Services; Washington DC Metro Area.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
