The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of both networking and system technologies. As well as fluency in at least one high level programming language including Python, Perl and Powershell.

Some of the responsibilities will include;

Maintaining, monitoring and enhancing the network infrastructure
Automate the configuration and roll-out of network devices
Research and innovation across technology stacks

Some of the skills required;

Extensive experience in LAN + WAN
TCP/IP, NPLS, BGP
Virtualisation
Mixed platform experience; Juniper,Cisco.
Strong networking skills across switching, routing and Firewalls (CISCO, Checkpoint, Juniper),
Switching protocols
One programming language would be highly regarded pref Python, Perl or Powershell
Demonstrated L3+ Network Support Experience
Deep Networks Knowledge - TCP, Packet Flow, Network Layer (within Applications)
Low Latency, High-Availability, and Performance of WAN technologies
Experience with Linux and Unix Scripting/troubleshooting

POSITION SUMMARY


The IT Support Specialist will assist customers and internal technical personnel with IT-related service issues and most particularly issues related to PLM and Team solutions received by the North American Call Center.  This position serves as first point of contact dealing directly with the customers to trouble-shoot and resolve issues, assist with installations, and identify and communicate business opportunities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Deliver the highest level of response to our customers service requests by phone and internet, respecting the customer contract;
  • Trouble-shoot / isolate problems between OS and Lectra proprietary software or peripherals, PLM and Team solutions;
  • Ability to resolve problems remotely and determine critical cases to escalate to Tier2;
  • Follow service request until the final resolution;
  • Ability to multi-task, identify, and communicate business opportunities;
  • Assist with installation of Lectra software solutions;
  • Log all service calls and daily activities into the service monitoring software (Oracle EBS);
  • Candidate will possess a positive attitude and be willing to be part of a team.



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:



  • 5-year degree in Computer Engineering/Services or related field experience.  2-year accepted if significant professional experience;
  • MCSE or MCP certification a plus.



Minimum 2 years experience in:



  • Relational databases : Oracle, SQL Server
  • Application servers: JEE
  • Web mail servers
  • Programming : SQL, ETL, XML, scripts
  • Operating systems : Windows, Unix, Mac
  • Network, domains
  • Virtual machines, Terminal Server, Citrix
  • Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Electronic and electrical applications and trouble-shooting
  • Software and hardware (CAM/CAD i.e. plotter, cutter) a major plus
  • Knowledge of customers’ processes a plus: Style, Pattern Design, Textile design,…
  • Computer Aided Manufacturing and/or Robotics software and hardware advantageous
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish; fluency in French a plus



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires a motivated self-starter with strong communication skills (English and Spanish, French a plus) and strong technical and trouble-shooting skills.  Must have thorough knowledge of collaborative solutions support. The position requires good PC hardware, software and peripherals knowledge, and to be familiar with network and internet technologies.


  • Technical support experience in multi-tier applications;
  • Good Oracle Database knowledge;
  • Excellent computer skills and OS knowledge;
  • Experience with Windows OS (Windows XP and Windows 7);
  • Experience with Mac OS and Unix OS (Linux, AIX);
  • Knowledge of  IP Networking (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, Internet);
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Spanish (French a plus);
  • Knowledge of reporting tools (Business Objects) a plus;
  • Very strong customer service skills.

Job Purpose:

  • Takes measures to help protect and maintain Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability of Company data and information systems from internal/ external threats by adopting best IT security practices in the industry.

  • Leads and implements the design of Information Security Architecture, implements / maintains IT Security policies and procedures. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leads the design and implementation of the IT Security architecture and infrastructure to ensure data protection and data integrity, according to best practices and recognize information security standards.

  • Leads and supervises the Implementation of Information Security Management System (ISMS) for modest management of Company Information Security and appropriate measurement of Security level and gaps in Company against the IT Security Standards.

  • Develops and maintains the documentations of the technical procedures, standards, and guidelines for IT Security infrastructure components and products.

  • Supervises and coordinates a Computer incidents response team with members from IT sections and teams to manage computer security incidents and problems.

  • Keeps abreast of changing technology to meet the new ever increasing security threats.

  • Occasional contacts with HR to aware them about procedures, policies, and guidelines regarding IT Security.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 6 - 7 years experiences in the field of Technical Support of which two years are involved in IT Security.

This position is located at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Telecommunications Engineering & Design Services; Washington DC Metro Area.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
·         Plan, develop, and coordinate systems to provide assistance and guidance to users.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

GS-12: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level AND also IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
Specialized Experience: Operating IT systems and equipment software, conducting customer support/help desk functions, and configuring software telephony programs.
The four required competencies are:

  1. Plan and implement customer support services covering central office equipment, software, systems, interface, and networks.
