Industrial Engineer 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: 
The Industrial Engineer will assist in the implementation of process improvements and lean methodologies.

Job duties:

Assist in the development of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
Assist in the design, set-up and validation of production lines to meet schedule and quality requirements.
Ensure that all safety regulations, including regulatory controls, are carefully followed.
Help conduct D.O.E., PFMEA, Kaizen events, SPC, and Kanban activities to ensure process optimization.
Assist in the optimization of automated equipment.
Working knowledge of process improvements and lean methodologies.
2-5 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry to include knowledge of most of the following processes: Assembly, Welding, Machining, Cutting, Pressing and material forming, Hydro testing, Design fixtures, Ergonomics, Tooling upkeep and care, and Preventative maintenance.
Microsoft Office, Email and AutoCAD software skills.
Ability to work well with all levels of the organization.
Comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
Team and goal oriented.
Ability to perform cost benefit analysis.
Ability to write standard operating procedures.
Ability to read blueprints.
Proficient in time and motion studies.
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment 
Ability to conduct failure analysis and root cause analysis
Prior knowledge of lean principles including 5S, line balancing, standard work, CPS operating principles, waste elimination and ability to produce work instructions.
Experience in tool and die design and metal forming including pressing, bending, brakes, and shearing sheet metal
Six Sigma Green Belt.
Proficient in using Minitab.
Advanced math skills.
Proficient use of MRP systems, specifically costing, routings and BOM’s.

To meet the strong growth of our business in France and to participate in a major application project for one of our banking clients, Cognizant is hiring a JAVA-J2EE Coordinator Engineer.

Responsibilities
Directly "on site" at the client location, you will work with a team of functional and technical experts, on a very large application maintenance project in an international environment.
Under the superivision of the Application Service Manager, you will handle level 3 support and application enhancements. You will maintain relationship with all the users involved. You may also be required to manage a part of the customer relationship.
In this context, you are responsible for:
-          Incident resolution: handle both common errors and new problems;
-          Problem-solving: identify problems, investigate the causes, identify potential sustainable solutions and create change requests;
-          Implement developments and create estimations with the team to justify them to the client;
-          Draft technical documents, that are the basis of our solution proposals, and manage the knowledge base, for ticket handling and resolution;
-           Participate in UAT phases,
-           Implement functional testing.

For this, you will work closely with both the client and Cognizant teams, onsite and offshore, for incident resolution.
  
Skills & Experience

You have at least 2 years of experience in a development or application support team.
You have excellent knowledge of the SQL language and the databases, as well as JAVA/J2EE programming languages. You are also familiar with the ticket management systems.

You are service-minded and have excellent communication and listening skills. Customer relationship is fundamental for you. In addition, you are fluent in English (technical / plain). Your technical and soft skills will make a difference.
Work experience in an international or offshore environment is an added advantage.

Education:
Higher education in computer science (Engineering schools or technical universities)

As part of the SNC-Lavalin group of companies, SNC-Lavalin T & D designs, develops, and delivers engineering, including system planning and studies, procurement, and construction solutions for high voltage power transmission line and substation projects from our Canadian, United States and International office locations.

SNC-Lavalin T & D has an exciting career opportunity for a Project Engineering Manager in our Calgary office. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing Project Engineering Leads and Project Engineers who in turn are responsible for overseeing project engineering teams (multi or single discipline) and coordinating design activities for our major transmission line and substation projects in Alberta and elsewhere.

Accountabilities for this role include:
  • Managing the progress of engineering commitments to ensure successful project completion.
  • Monitoring project resource requirements and usage.
  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable SNC-Lavalin’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance and Quality Control on assigned projects.
  • Coordinating with Project Management, Procurement and Construction groups for scheduled and successful completion of the project.
  • Coordinating the design activities, and providing technical and interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Resolving overall technical and project execution issues.
  • Managing construction support during the construction phase of the project by responding to site queries and arranging the appropriate resources.
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of all engineering and design packages including return data information.
  • Monitoring project progress and quality of work, and providing coaching and mentoring to project team members.
  • Mentor, guide and support members of the group and others. 
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients for the purpose of promoting the quality of services offered.



Qualifications for these positions include:
A degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
A minimum of 15 years related technical and management experience.
Registered or eligible for registration with APEGA. Registration as a P.Eng. is considered a requirement.
Experience in the power transmission industry is preferred.
Knowledge of Canadian and BC Alberta(AECUC) codes and standards, including OH&S Regulations, CSA and Altalink standards.
A strong leader who can motivate and engage a team with demonstrated strength in leading multidiscipline groups.
An excellent written and verbal communicator with superior relationship management skills.
Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple teams, priorities and time lines.

This position requires a high level of interpersonal communication skills. Occasional travel to remote locations is required. This position reports to the Manager, Project Engineering.
