Job Responsibilities:
• Assist with product validation activities, inspections and tests to evaluate the precision and accuracy of products.
• Program and oversee CMM to develop part programs, fixtures and inspection programs working with Brown & Sharp / Mitotoyo CMMs.
• Develop CMM programs to inspect parts in accordance with blueprints and CAD data.
• Applies advanced knowledge of inspection and test methods to produce accurate results in the execution of qualification activities for new or existing products and processes, engineering evaluations, investigation of product complaints and support of process improvement activities.
• Assists Quality and/or Manufacturing Engineering in applying basic quality tools and analytical methods in performing root cause analysis for product or process deviations identified through customer complaint, QIS or CAPA systems.
• Develops and applies inspection and test procedures and methods, based on detailed specifications, blueprints, drawings, and other technical requirements to assess the dimensional, functional or visual characteristics of materials, components and finished product.
• Provides technical training to Quality Inspection personnel on measurement systems, inspection and test procedures, and product functional concepts.
• Assists Supplier Quality Engineering to interface with external component/material suppliers as necessary in developing consistent inspection and test methods, training on acceptable quality criteria and resolving product inspection discrepancies.
• Insure part-inspection programs are consistent with part number and revision level.
• Participate in quality investigations and/or internal audits to assess conformance to specifications, company procedures and overall compliance to regulations.
• Demonstrate strong customer service skills and the ability to work independently and with flexibility in order to meet changing business needs in a fast-paced team environment.
• Develop and maintain training plans, lesson plans and supporting training materials.
• Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in logistics/quality environment.
• Develop tools that enable logistics, aid process improvement or address safety concerns. Limited use and/or application of basic fundamental or technical principles, theories, and concepts.
• Conducts studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.
• Determines the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow, and establishes methods for maximum utilization of warehouse facilities and personnel.
• Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors.
• Maintain awareness of the technological state-of-the-art and of the Company's competitive position in the assigned area.
• Utilizes lean or six sigma tools to evaluate Rockwell Collins or supplier products and processes. Analyzes root causes of deficiencies and ensures proper corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner. Participates in cross-functional team efforts to improve Rockwell Collins or supplier products and processes.
• Executes and coordinates training as required: Lean philosophy, continuous improvement tools and methods; change management.
• Acts as a catalyst for performance improvement projects.

Required skills and attributes:
• Experience reading blueprints required.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) is required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
• Must have good communication and organizational skills.
• The ability to work independently to develop solutions to complex quality scenarios is required.
• The ability to interact and communicate effectively with other functional professionals (i.e. Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering) at all levels is required.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) is required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required

Preferred skills and attributes:
• CMM programming experience on Brown & Sharpe and/or Mitotoyo equipment is preferred.

• Knowledge of Quality Systems Regulations (QSRs) and ISO quality requirements preferred.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering or science field, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, six years of related engineering experience.
US citizenship or permanent residency.
